Strip Search Class Action Settled for $900,000
This is a settlement for the Civil / Human Rights lawsuit.
A $900,000 settlement was approved today by a federal judge in a class action lawsuit over allegations that night club patrons were strip-searched during a police raid in 2005.
Undercover police raided the club ' What's Next' in Flint, Michigan, to investigate reports of drug dealing taking place onsite. Apparently, the police bought drugs at the club that night, and began arresting people. Patrons who didn't have drugs were reportedly detained on charges of "frequenting a drug house." The detainees were then separated into two groups - males and females, and some were stripped search.
The class action was brought by 51 plaintiffs, who will share the settlement monies.
