Disabilities Groups Settle with Caltrans for $1.1 Billion
This is a settlement for the Personal Injury lawsuit.
Sacramento, CA: A settlement has been reached in the class action filed by Californians for Disability Rights and the California Council for the Blind alleging that the state of California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), had denied access to people with vision or mobility disabilities to numerous facilities.
Caltrans has reportedly agreed to remove barriers and make improvements to sidewalks and pedestrian facilities over the next 30 years - for a total spend of $1.1 Billion. All state Park and Ride facilities will also be made fully compliant with state and federal access requirements.
