$4.1 Million Settlement Awarded in False Imprisonment Lawsuit
This is a settlement for the Civil / Human Rights lawsuit.
Larimer County, CO: Tim Masters has won his lawsuit against alleging false imprisonment, with a settlement agreement of $4.1 million, CNN.com reported today.
Masters was imprisoned in 1999 on a murder charge, for which he is now exonerated. He was just 15 years old when police in Fort Collins started their investigation on him and his supposed role in the murder of 37-year old Peggy Hettrick. He ended up being convicted largely on circumstantial evidence and testimony from an expert witness, who claimed Masters fit the profile of a sexual predator.
Masters was freed from prison in 2008, and the crime remains unsolved.
