Amway Gift Card Class Action Settlement
This is a settlement for the Consumer and Financial Fraud lawsuit.
Los Angeles, CA: A $20 million settlement has been approved in a class action against Amway over its gift cards. Consumers only have until June 20, 2011 to file their claims.
Per the settlement agreement, each eligible consumer shall be offered one new non-dated gift card with a retail value of $50, unless he or she can prove the purchase of a gift card from a higher value gift collection, in which case Amway will provide that eligible consumer with a card of commensurate retail value.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Anthony Mohr approved the settlement agreement in a class-action lawsuit alleging Amway Corporation sold and marketed gift cards that contained a notation instructing consumers to "redeem before" a certain date, which plaintiffs contended violated numerous state laws prohibiting or restricting the expiration of gift cards.
