$2.65M Awarded to Family of Mother Killed by Truck
This is a settlement for the Wrongful Death lawsuit.
Almeda County, CA: The family of a woman who was hit and killed by a pick-up truck in 2007, has been awarded a $2.65 million settlement of their wrongful death
suit.
Socorro Lopez, the mother of three, was out out jogging with her husband and children when she was struck by the truck on the shoulder of Patterson Pass Road in Almeda County. Luis Quezada allegedly lost control of his vehicle on a curve and struck Lopez, killing her instantaneously.
Lopez's family sued Pacific Surfacing Inc., alleging Quezada was running errands for the company at the time of the crash. They also sued the county, claiming poor roadway design contributed to the crash. Pacific Surfacing denied that Quezada was working for it that day, while the county contended that Quezada's reckless driving was the sole cause of the accident. The parties ultimately reached a settlement in which Pacific Surfacing paid $2 million and the county paid $650,000.

I have 3 boys 17,18,22Mr Yarington's biological sons.
My question. Since one child was a minor at the time of death is there anything I specifically can or should do on his behalf? What about future college payments my X and I were planning on splitting for the 18 and 17 year old?
Assuming wrongful death is indicated I'm wondering what u should do?
Thank you for your time.
