$105 Million Settlement Reached in Atrazine Weed Killer Water Contamination Class Action
This is a settlement for the Environment Law lawsuit.
New York, NY: A $105 million settlement has been reachd in an environmental class action lawsuit against Syngenta AG.
The lawsuit, brought by several water companies based in the Midwest, alleged Syngenta's weed killer atrazine had contaminated water supplies, and sought payment for the expense of filtering it from the water.
Syngenta is a Swiss-based company. The herbicide is not used in Europe, and critics cite studies indicating it can disrupt sexual reproduction of frogs.
The settlement resolves an eight-year-old lawsuit alleging that atrazine.
