Kaz Heating Pad Class Action Settlement

Los Angeles, AC: A settlement has been reached in a consumer fraud class action against Kaz Heating Pads. The lawsuit, entitled Beck-Ellman v. Kaz USA, Inc. Southern District of California, Case No. 10-cv-02134 alleged that the packages of Kaz-manufactured and/or distributed electric Heating Pads were misleading and lacked information that a consumer would use to determine whether or not to purchase the product.

Specifically, the lawsuit claimed that the packaging did not state that the Kaz Heating Pads could cause burns when used in common positions or ways. The lawsuit also claimed the packaging violated California and Pennsylvania consumer protection laws.

The Settlement will provide payments to California residents who purchased a SoftHeat, SmartHeat, Dunlap or Kaz electric heating pad between October 13, 2006 and January 7, 2013. In particular, this case concerns electric heating pads bearing the words "Kaz"and/or "oftHeat"and/or "martHeat"and/or "Dunlap"and/or the number 1-800-477-0457 on the packaging or heating pads themselves manufactured and/or distributed by Kaz USA, Inc. and/or Kaz, Inc.
