$2M Awarded in Sexual Harassment Case of A Minor
Los Angeles, CA: A $2 million settlement has been awarded in the case of a 13-year old student who alleged she suffered sexual harassment by her teacher.
According to the lawsuit, filed against the school district that employed the teacher, the 13-year old plaintiff claimed she was sexually harassed by her male middle school teacher when she was in the eighth grade. The harassment involved the teacher transmitting sexually explicit text messages, photographs and Facetime telephone conversations to the minor plaintiff both on and off the campus. There was no physical contact between the teacher and the plaintiff.
The plaintiff asserted that the school district employees failed to supervise the teacher and the plaintiff. As a result of the harassment the minor plaintiff suffered severe emotional distress.
