Everything is wrong with my expedition 2005

  • Richey Smith December 22, 2015 at 12:03 pm

I had a 2001 Triton 5.4L V8 Expedition. I had to replace some of my coil packs at list 6 to 8 times because it was blowing them out of the head. The last time before I sold it one of my spark plugs broke off from a rod or something hitting it and I had to get the whole passenger head replaced for over 2000 dollars. why are 2001’s not listed on this site.

  • Gary Milam December 22, 2015 at 7:06 pm

I submitted receipt for replacing my spark plugs on my 2007 Ford F-150 5.4 liter engine several months ago, haven’t heard anything.
Could I have some reply of follow up on my claim ?

    • Shawn kelley December 31, 2015 at 10:08 am

The way I understand it there will be a fairness hearing January 25 and if there is no objections the administrators have 45 days to start paying claims

      • PAUL EMERTON February 19, 2016 at 5:40 pm

  • Stephen Morrow December 23, 2015 at 7:46 pm

local shop just just called to inform me that they cannot remove the spark plugs from my 2005 f-150. Plugs are frozen in the head and looks as tho someone attempted to remove them before i bought the truck 16 months ago. This was the message from the local shop.

    • Shawn kelley December 31, 2015 at 10:12 am

They can do it but they are going to have to remove the heads it cost me 2600 dollars.

  • Mary waldroop December 24, 2015 at 3:28 pm

    • Daniel Skinner December 29, 2015 at 6:36 pm

I have had the same problem with my plugs. I changed them myself . The only problem that I see is the plugs that I took out that broke during the procedure were the same upgraded plugs that they gave me to replace the old ones. So now what? It took me a total of 8-9 hours with a lisle tool. My pay scale is 38 and hour. Who is going to pay me?

    • james f. wilson December 30, 2015 at 4:41 pm

When do I get my refund that I paid to get my plugs changed ? I feel this is a ford problem & the engineering by Ford .

  • jimmy boyd December 30, 2015 at 1:56 am

  • Joel Oestriech December 31, 2015 at 9:00 pm

Just had the #8 spark plug blow out of the head of my 2005 F-150 4.6 Triton motor, it also blew the coil pack into pieces. Repaired it myself. In parts alone, including the necessary gaskets & fluids was right at $500.00. This should NOT be happening at 120,000 miles!

  • jimmy sartain January 3, 2016 at 7:36 pm

i have a 2007 ford f-150 lariat with less than 120.000 miles do i take it to the dealership to replace plugs ? who pays for it?

  • tina January 5, 2016 at 6:44 pm

I have a 2005 ford expedition. The mechanic tried taking off the spark plugs and broke one off. Now he tells me coil #2 is bad. Could this be from the spark plug breaking off? How do I get part of the lawsuit?

  • Joyce January 5, 2016 at 11:34 pm

  • jimmy boyd February 10, 2016 at 12:57 pm

yes i sent in my paper work i just wanted to fine out what going on !!!!

    • Daniel Skinner February 16, 2016 at 10:49 pm

The problem with the lawsuit is the refund only applies to those who had the plugs done at a shop or dealership. If you did it yourself ,the cost is on you. My last Ford.

      • james f. wilson February 24, 2016 at 2:06 pm

I had my plugs done at a shop & have not a reply as to why or if I will receive any compensation .

      • james f. wilson February 24, 2016 at 2:19 pm

This problem would not have made my father in law happy as he worked for Ford aprox. 30 yrs. & died 2000 . His wife is in a nursing home & helps my children & myself purchase Ford vehicles .

  • james f. wilson March 3, 2016 at 12:36 pm

I would hope Ford will make it right with all owners who had spark plug problems & if not we should put a sign on our vehicle about what we have goon through.

    • Daniel Skinner March 11, 2016 at 5:39 pm

The plugs I took out are the redesigned plugs they want you to install? Now what?

  • larry simpson March 5, 2016 at 12:52 pm

My 2002 Mustang Gt 4.6 liter, splits plugs our like they were candy, I get one repaired, at the cost of 3-5 hundred dollars, then another one comes out. Why wasn’t this year covered in the recall? Is their any other avenue that I can have my car repaired, instead of just out of my pocket? I am just waiting on the next one, any day now.

    Sincerely,
    Larry Simpson

  • Glen Harmon March 6, 2016 at 12:29 pm

I had my plugs done 6 mo. ago. I sent all needed documentation.I have not heard anything yet??

  • Carolyn Smith March 7, 2016 at 6:54 am

I have a 2006 Ford Expedition XLT SP. I bought my Ford December 17, 2015. I love it but about two weeks later I began to hear a slight pinging noise and at times it would stop but the third week stopping by my son’s house he told me I better get it checked out because it sounded like a lifter and could cause major problems if I let it go. So Feb 3, 2016 I took it in thinking that the warranty would take care of it. Well I got a call that my Expedition was ready and the bill was $720. and the warranty doesn’t cover spark plugs, it was one spark plug #8. Three weeks later I started hearing a ping same on the left side same as the last time but this time the ping starts and stops they told me to bring it back but if its another plug it’s another $700. Can someone please tell me if this is going to be a constant issue with the plugs because I don’t have a money tree growing in my house.

  • Mike March 7, 2016 at 7:26 pm

I’ve got a 05 f150 started with the coil pack problem witch led me to the spark plugs all breaking off this was with less then 100,000 miles. Now with 139,000 motor is locked up timeing chain tensioners blown the seals broke the plastic chain guides and cloged the pick-up tube in the oil pan spun 2 rod bearings. F*CK!

  • Randy Robinson March 8, 2016 at 8:34 pm

Holding on to my spark plugs and wondering where to take them

  • Kevin P March 8, 2016 at 9:16 pm

I have 2008 navigator, bought used with 12000 mi in 2010. Just changed plugs and put in new coils. 6 out of 8 broke. Bought lisle tool didn’t work by itself, rented tool from autozone, that had a tap to thread broken piece of plug to extract it. Used lisle tool to push in ceramic on plug to allow for tap thread. Bought new sp 515 plugs on eBay for 71 dollars. It’s key to use compressed air from compressor to blow out cylinder hole several times during removal. It took me 2 1/2 days and lots of patience. Everything is ok so far. I didn’t torque new plugs, just tightened with muscle. Cost me 250 with plugs, coils, and lisle tool. I put anti seize on new plugs. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that I don’t have any issues. I feel bad for people who can’t do it themselves and have to pay ransoms to dealers and mechanics. I am in on the lawsuit but haven’t heard back from anyone. May God bless you all.

  • Kenny Hill March 9, 2016 at 1:34 pm

I filed a claim several months ago. I haven”t heard anything. Has it been settled ? How much are people getting back from Ford if it has been settled?

  • Hartzel Black March 10, 2016 at 3:50 pm

I just bought a 2008 Ford 150 and blew a spark plug. Have had wrecker take to Stanley Ford in Gilmer Texas. Waiting on cost estimate and am not happy with situation. Ford should have a recall on everyone of those engines..

  • LarryHawkins. March 10, 2016 at 8:10 pm

We have a 2008 expedition tat has over 27500 miles on it. In Oct of 2015 I blew up and we took it to our mechanic. He said it was the plugs. When he took them our the were burned completely up. It cost us $1440.00 to get it replaced. We filed a claim and sent the reciept. We have heard nothing. Is this how afford treats their loyal customers? If so this’ll be our last Ford
