Salem, OR: Oregon State Correctional Institution in Salem, has suspended inmate visiting room hours due to concerns over asbestos contamination in the area where the visits take place. The suspension, announced on Wednesday, January 12, resulted from an OSCI employee finding a chunk of ceiling-insulation material on the floor in a mechanical room adjacent to the prison’s visiting room. The mechanical room houses plumbing and heating systems. The concern is that asbestos fibers may have blown into the visiting room and neighboring offices through the ventilation system. Air quality testing is planned. (StatesmanJournal.com)
Does this list include all of the companies that ever produced Asbestosis? If not, where can I obtain such a list? Thanks in advance. This is the most comprehensive list I've seen to date. I am one of the beneficiaries of a mesothelioma wrongful death suit, my Dad died from the disease 6 months after diagnosis at the age of 65. Ive been unable to obtain any information from my Dad's estate attorney's because I am not the executor of his estate, my Dad's second wife is. So, this is very helpful. Thank you.
Hi Christine, First off, my sympathies on your father's passing. I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for–but I'll try to answer as best I can. Asbestosis is a form of lung disease that produces scarring of the lungs–so there isn't really a list of companies as such for that. The list you may be referring to is for those companies that have used asbestos or asbestos-containing products in their manufacturing process–as opposed to asbestos mining companies. There are many companies that have used asbestos-containing parts or products in the making of their own products–so many companies (and many that have subsidiaries or multiple divisions) that it is probably easier to first list or find out the companies at which your father worked; additionally, the next level would be knowing which companies may have supplied asbestos or asbestos-containing parts or products to the company(ies) your father worked at, that he may have either worked with directly, or come in contact with. There are lists of many of these companies, but to start with them all makes for a challenging process to try to identify the ones you're really wanting to know about. I hope this helps–good luck.
