Wal-Mart Settles Class Action Suit
This is a settlement for the Employment lawsuit.
A $35 million dollar settlement has been agreed between Wal-Mart and its workers in Washington state, bringing to an end 8 years of litigation over alleged missed meal and rest breaks and additional, unpaid hours of work.
The suit also alleged that Wal-Mart would lock its employees in the store at the end of the day after they had clocked off, and have them work an additional 30 minutes.
It is possible that up to 88,000 former employees may be covered by the lawsuit. People who worked at a Wal-Mart store in Washington state between September 10th 1997 and February 2009 are eligible for part of the settlement, if paperwork is submitted by August 19th.
