Creditor Held in Contempt of Court for Violating Automatic Stay

Miami, FL (January 24, 2018) A Florida judge signed an order today holding creditor, IH5 Property Florida LP with GP IH5 Borrower GP LLC, more commonly known as Invitation Homes, in contempt of court for intentional violation of the automatic stay. Miami bankruptcy attorney, Timothy S. Kingcade’s client filed a Chapter 7 petition on November 30, 2017. Despite having notice of the bankruptcy filing, on December 5, 2017, the creditor, Invitation Homes, proceeded to file an eviction action against the client. Attorney Kingcade filed a motion to hold the landlord in contempt of court for violating the automatic stay. The motion adequately showed that Isamar Alers of Invitation Homes had actual knowledge of the bankruptcy on November 30.

S&P Faces Federal Lawsuit over 2008 Financial Crisis

Washington, DC The federal government is seeking $5 billion in penalties from rating agency Standard & Poors (S&P) in a civil suit alleging consumer fraud. The lawsuit alleges that S&P defrauded investors by inflating ratings and understating risks associated with mortgage-backed securities.

Attorney Chases Justice in Foreclosure Crisis

Madoff Investor Returns $7.2 Billion to Ponzi Victims

New York, NY The estate of Jeffrey M. Picower, a philanthropist and investor from Palm Beach, has reached a settlement with the Trustee charged with recovering assets from the Madoff bankruptcy, Irving H. Picard, and the United States attorney for the Southern District, Preet Bharara that will see a total of $7.2 billion cash made available to compensate the victims of Bernard Madoff's global ponzi scheme. The announcement comes on the heels of the suicide of 46-year old son Mark Madoff, who hung himself in his New York loft this week.

Tribune cancels employee stock plan
