Corn says he arrived at the home on August 24, 2011, and found his mother alone and unresponsive on a patio with no shade. She showed signs of respiratory distress and was taken to a local hospital, where she died of heatstroke. Her internal temperature was reportedly 103.3 degrees when she died.
Corn's lawsuit alleges elder abuse, negligence, fraud and wrongful death.
"She died from heat exhaustion," Parris told CBS (see video below). "It's a serious crime to treat your dog that way, and we're allowing people to treat our parents that way."
Officials from Sunrise issued a statement that they take allegations of wrongdoing seriously and work to provide residents with the best care possible.

We have had a two hour wait for a care manager to arrive and assist mom in the bathroom. When we signed the contract, we were told there would be an 8 to 10 minute wait. We voiced our concern with management. They did nothing.
Mom pulled her pager cord because she needed assistance in the bathroom. The care giver arrived while I stepped out, assumed I had left for the evening, turned the alarm off without helping mom. We voiced our concern with management. They did nothing.
One evening, mom was experiencing difficulty breathing and was in extreme pain. I pulled the pager cord by her bed, waited 10 minutes and when no one arrived, started searching the halls for help. Found two care managers on another floor, explained the situation and the nurse arrived after 20 minutes to administer mom's medication. The Sunrise regional director of nursing said a 20 minute wait to administer mom's medication was acceptable but our Hospice nurse said that the wait was unacceptable. We set-up a meeting between my brother, the Hospice nurse, Hospice chaplain, Hospice social worker and myself. We were to discuss my mother's care issues (red marks on back, the need to be rotated so as not to develop bed sores, etc.). The Sunrise director of nursing yelled from across the lobby and said, "I have scheduled another meeting because you did not confirm this meeting''. Our Hospice nurse said, "Confirm the meeting? We agreed on today at 10:30 a.m.'' but the Sunrise director of nursing just kept walking.
Our monthly statements have all been incorrect to the detriment of us.
Over worked, under staffed employees. Also, if you voice issues with management, they become vindictive.
I just don't want another other family to go through what we are experiencing. Do your research before you place your loved one in Sunrise facilities. There is so much information on the internet about this corporation.
