Applebee's Neighborhood Bar and Grill

A $40,000 settlement has been reached in the discrimination lawsuit filed against Applebee's Neighborhood Bar and Grill. The suit was filed by black former employee Dwight Burch who claimed that he was discriminated against by his manager, a light-skinned black man, because of his dark skin tone. Burch claimed that he was fired on March 26, 2001 after he threatened to report the harassment, which included derogatory remarks about his dark skin color, to Applebee's corporate headquarters.
