City of East St. Louis

The City of East St. Louis has agreed to pay a $100,000 settlement for a lawsuit charging three senior police officers with sexual harassment. The plaintiff, a St. Louis police detective, filed a complaint to the City Council but she was not alone. The City Council received five other harassment and misconduct complaints against the police force in their September 12 meeting. The city's mayor, Carl Officer recognizes that additional training may be necessary for the East St. Louis police department and all city employees. (Sep-26-05) [BELLEVILLE NEWS DEMOCRAT]
