The San Jose Mercury News

Mark Newton, a console technician at The San Jose Mercury News, claimed he had been sexually harassed by a supervisor from October 2002 to about June 2003. Newton allegedly complained to another supervisor but the company failed to act on his accusations until he complained to upper management. A civil lawsuit was filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in December 2003. The San Jose Mercury News will pay $150,000 to the former mail room employee to settle the lawsuit.
