LAWSUITS NEWS & LEGAL INFORMATION
Pacifica, CA
On January 2, 2005, a family member of Gregory Saulsbury Jr. called 911 saying someone needed medical help and was acting violently. Police were sent to the scene. Police shocked Saulsbury several times with a Taser after he lunged at an officer and refused to stop fighting. Saulsbury stopped breathing during the struggle and died a short time later at Seton Medical Center. His family filed a $30 million wrongful death lawsuit against the Pacifica Police Department claiming officers used excessive force and violated Saulsbury's civil rights. The city has reached a tentative $395,000 settlement. (Jan-10-07)
