Hampton, VA: (Feb-14-07) Officer Seneca Darden, of Norfolk, was killed on the job in May 2006. The city of Hampton has agreed to pay the family $600,000 as compensation; they will receive $160,000 from insurance, plus $295,000 from the US Government, and $75,000 from the state of Virginia for the death of the officer while in the line of duty. Apart from this, the family will also receive annual worker's compensation and retirement benefits.
