Canadian National Railway Co.

Vancouver, BC: (Feb-26-07) A strike organized by the United Transportation Union, representing about 2,800 striking workers, against Canadian National Railway Co. ended finally with a tentative agreement being agreed upon. The strike that began when conductors and yard workers failed to reach agreement on a new contract to replace a three-year one that expired December 31, 2006. The dispute centered on wages and work conditions. Managers filled in for the workers to keep Canadian National's freight operations running. Though the details of the settlement have not been made public, sources say that the agreement would mean a 3% wage increase and a $1,000 Canadian ($862 U.S.) bonus upon ratification per employee bringing Canadian National's payout close to $2.5 million.
