Honolulu, HI: (Apr-05-07) The Public Employers (the state and the four counties) and the Hawaiian Government Employees Association (HGEA) have reached a tentative agreement in their negotiations involving certain white and blue collared bargaining units representing nearly 26,000 state and county government employees. The settlement involves a 4 percent annual pay increase with step movements. The contract, which is effective July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2009, will cost the HGEA approximately $183.2 million. The employers and the HGEA are also involved in a separate arbitration process to resolve an impasse in negotiations with Bargaining Unit 09, Registered Professional Nurses.
