University of Iowa

Des Moines, IA: (Apr-07-07) Kenneth Kress, 55, of Iowa City, a law professor at the University of Iowa, was accused of forging students' evaluations of his effectiveness as a teacher. The surveys were one of the tools used by the university to award pay raises to members of the faculty. Kress admitted to forging the surveys and in a recently released record, the Grievance Commission of the Iowa Supreme Court stated that Kress could face a possible suspension of his law license as a result of his admission. Kress has also been diagnosed with Bipolar disorder and the commission attributed his actions to delirium and delusions, and an inability to tolerate negative reviews of any kind. In a severance settlement, the University of Iowa has agreed to pay Kress $226,000 as well as award him health benefits through 2008. [DES MOINES REGISTER: PROFESSOR SEVERANCE]
