Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana
Indianapolis, IN: (May-24-07) Carol D'Amico, who resigned from Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana after being passed over for president, agreed to accept a year's salary and received a letter of recommendation in exchange for agreeing not to pursue legal action against the school. In a separation agreement signed by D'Amico, she claimed that she was wrongfully passed over for the presidency. The Ivy Tech Community College denied the assertion. As the college's executive vice president was widely seen as the heir apparent to departing President Gerald Lamkin. She had also been Gov. Mitch Daniels' choice to be the new college president. But the college's board of trustees did not select her as a finalist, choosing instead, Anderson businessman Thomas J. Snyder for the $300,000-a-year position leading the college's 23 campuses and more than 100,000 students.
Under the settlement, D'Amico has been paid a lump sum representing a year's pay: $191,000, minus taxes and other required deductions. She also received $5,891.10 to pay for her health-insurance coverage for a year; $3,107.90 that was placed into her retirement account; and a letter of recommendation. [INDY STAR: COLLEGE SALARY]
