LAWSUITS NEWS & LEGAL INFORMATION
El Paso, TX
El Paso, TX: (Jun-26-07) Martie Jobe, a lawyer linked to the FBI's public corruption investigation through a legal document called an "information" that detailed the crimes of former county chief of staff John Travis Ketner, filed a lawsuit against Ketner alleging defamation and civil conspiracy. The suit sought compensation for intense embarrassment, extreme anger, sleepless nights, prolonged anxiety, difficulty eating, bouts of nausea, emotional reactions and outbursts at the slightest provocation, nightmares and extreme stress that Jobe suffered as a result of Ketners' s actions. Jobe, a businesswoman who, until June 8, 2007, enjoyed an impeccable reputation for professional excellence and honesty as an attorney, businesswoman, civic leader and philanthropist, stated she had been defamed by Ketner's claims that she conspired with others to secure the settlement of a lawsuit in which she was counsel. Jobe's lawsuit had claimed that the county had withheld overtime pay of several El Paso County sheriffs' deputies and asked compensation for it. The settlement agreement, which called for the county to pay officers $635,000, was approved. The current lawsuit is still pending.
