Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp.
Denver, CO: (Jul-25-07) The US Labor Department brought a lawsuit against Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp., alleging that the company withheld wages from employees in Colorado, New Mexico, Ohio, Georgia and the District of Columbia. Ball Aerospace, a defense contractor, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ball Corp. in suburban Broomfield.
In a settlement reached, Ball Aerospace agreed to pay nearly $1 million in back wages to 904 employees in the five states. The Labor Department officials stated that the settlement will have Ball Aerospace pay $383,000 to 111 senior technicians who were incorrectly classified as ineligible for overtime, and $593,000 to 793 employees who were routinely required to work through lunch periods without pay. Ball Aerospace spokeswoman Sara Sloan confirmed the settlement. [FORBES: EMPLOYEE OVERTIME]
