Hill Boren P.C.
Jackson, TN: (Jul-26-07) The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) brought charges against personal injury law firm Hill Boren P.C., alleging that the firm subjected an employee to a hostile work environment that forced her to quit. The EEOC claimed that project manager Rebekah Womack, who worked at the firm's Memphis office, was repeatedly sexually harassed on the job. The person repeatedly asked Womack out to dinner, touched her inappropriately, and constantly made comments of a sexual nature to her. Faced with such a predicament, Womack was forced to quit her job with the firm. Womack's separate complaint identified senior partner and attorney Robert Hill.
In a settlement reached, Hill Boren agreed to pay $15,000 to settle allegations. Further, as part of the settlement, Hill Boren is enjoined from engaging in any discriminatory or retaliatory practices. The agreement also mandates that Hill Boren's management officials and employees at its Memphis location receive training from an outside trainer on sexual harassment and retaliation; that new staff be given training within 30 days of hiring or promotion; and that the firm report to the EEOC on the training.
