LAWSUITS NEWS & LEGAL INFORMATION
Greenwich, CT
Greenwich, CT: (Aug-09-07) Inga Boudreau, a former deputy director at Greenwich Library, brought a lawsuit against the town, Greenwich Library, the library's Board of Trustees, and three library officials, alleging that town employees violated her civil rights. The lawsuit claimed that the defendants breached contract and engaged in defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress. According to her lawsuit, Boudreau attended a work-related conference in November 2003 in Ithaca, NY, and another in January 2004 in San Diego. In both cases, Greenwich Library Director Mario Gonzalez authorized Boudreau's attendance in advance. Boudreau paid for both conferences, incurring total expenses of $1,156.64, and requested reimbursement from the library, which Gonzalez approved.
Later, without questioning Boudreau about any irregularities in her expense requests, Gonzalez filed a criminal complaint against her with the Greenwich Police Department, accusing her of larceny. Police arrested Boudreau the day she was fired and charged her with submitting false expense reports for hotel lodging and other charges, prompting a criminal case. The criminal case was resolved in August 2005, when Boudreau received a suspended prison sentence and probation after pleading no contest to one count of third-degree larceny. In her suit, Boudreau alleged that Greenwich Library Director Mario Gonzalez lied, manipulated and deliberately marginalized and undermined her role. In a settlement reached, Greenwich paid 64-year-old Inga Boudreau $25,000, which sources state is a small part of a larger settlement. [GREENWICH TIME: DIRECTOR DEFAMATION]
