Dance Lord Defamation
Los Angeles, CA: (Sep-26-07) Michael Flatley, the "Lord of the Dance" star, brought a lawsuit against Tyna Marie Robertson and her lawyer, D. Dean Mauro, alleging that Robertson wrongly accused him of sexual assault. Flatley reached a settlement with Mauro in August 2007. In his suit against Robertson, he alleged civil extortion, fraud, and defamation. In a declaration filed Sept. 7, Flatley said Robertson's rape allegations have hurt his standing in the public eye. The suit stemmed from Robertson's allegations that the dancer raped her at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas in October 2002. Las Vegas police confirmed a report was made, but no charges were filed. Flatley, now 49, claimed he and Robertson had consensual sex in his hotel suite. In a proposed settlement of an $11 million default judgment, Flatley is required to come to court and testify.
