Employee Reassignment
Chillicothe City, OH: (Nov-14-07) Lawrence Butler, the former director of personnel, brought a lawsuit against Chillicothe City Schools, alleging that school officials had improperly handled his reassignment in the district after his position was eliminated. The suit stated that Butler, who currently is the principal at Worthington Elementary, was given the position as assistant principal at Mt. Logan instead of at the high school.
As part of a settlement reached, Chillicothe City Schools agreed to settle the employment dispute with a more than $30,000 payout to Butler. Sources claimed that Sheryl McCorkle and Jeff Hartmus were the only current board members on the board at the time of Butler's reassignment. The pair voted no on the settlement, which was $26,626.89 for loss wages and $3,726.89 for STRS employer contributions. Both refused to comment on the proceedings.
