Employee Harassment
Portland, OR: (Nov-20-07) The US Equal Opportunity Commission (EEOC) brought charges against Leo Gentry Wholesale Nursery, a wholesale nursery in Damascus, OR, on behalf of a woman who claimed that she was harassed by her immediate supervisor. Records showed that she contacted the Oregon Law Center after being fired just hours after reporting the harassment to the company owners. Her complaint stated that the supervisor asked her out on dates more than a dozen times and refused her requests to stop. As part of a settlement reached, the company agreed to pay $65,000 to settle the sexual harassment lawsuit. As part of the agreement, the nursery also agreed to implement anti-discrimination policies and provide anti-discrimination training to employees.
