Retailer Fraud
Boston, MA: (Dec-17-07) The Attorney General's Office brought charges against Harvey Slobodkin, the former president of retailer Boston Baby, claiming that he owed money to a dozen employees for back pay and unused vacation time. Another case filed against Slobodkin on behalf of nearly 1,000 former customers, following the retail chain's sudden closing in March 2006, accused him of having taken $681,000 in deposits, but not having delivered the merchandise. In a settlement reached with the Attorney General's Office, Slobodkin agreed to pay $41,840 to resolve allegations.
