Road Supervisor
Nesquehoning Borough, PA: (Feb-28-08) Nick Degiglio, a former road supervisor, brought charges against Nesquehoning Borough, alleging that he was wrongfully terminated. Borough sources stated that in a bid to resolve the claims, the two parties agreed to reach a settlement agreement, in which Nesquehoning Borough Council approved of an out of court deal with Degiglio, paying him $47,500. Councilmen claimed that the settlement amount will be paid by the borough's insurance carrier. When questioned by a resident as to the reason for the settlement, Councilman Frank DiMiceli explained that it was cheaper to pay the settlement than to take it to court and run up more costs. The borough's insurance company made the recommendation to settle. At the crux of the dispute was a property line at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in New Columbus, which had several problems. Degliglio was fired over the work done on the property. Nesquehoning residents were assured that borough solicitor Robert Yurchak will check on the property line at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in New Columbus and rectify the problem, which has been in negotiations for 26 years.
