Town Fires Manager, Officer
Dover, DE: (Apr-03-08) Edward Ryan, a former Cheswold Town Manager, brought a wrongful termination lawsuit against the town, alleging that the town breached its contract in unlawfully firing him. Suspended police officer Elliot Rosario also brought similar charges after he was put off his job. Records testified that the Delaware Supreme Court upheld a lower court finding that suspended police officer Elliot Rosario was wrongly denied a hearing on his suspension, as a result of the turmoil that resulted in Ryan's firing.
Sources state that Elliot Rosario was one of three Cheswold police officers suspended or fired during a controversy. As part of a settlement reached with the two, the town of Cheswold agreed to pay Edward Ryan $300,000, and $41,000 in back pay and interest to Elliot Rosario, to resolve allegations. Town sources stated that Mayor Donald Tinari claimed that the town may have to borrow the money it owes to Ryan. [WBOC NEWS: SUSPENDED CHESWOLD OFFICER FOUND ENTITLED TO BACK PAY, INTEREST]
