Hamilton, OH: (May-14-08) The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 648, a Hamilton, OH, based electrical workers union, brought charges against Sigma Capital, Inc. of Roselawn and AC Electrical Systems, Inc. of Harrison, two contractors, alleging that they owed wages to electricians who did work at Miami University. The suit also stated that the two contractors violated Ohio's prevailing wage law on two construction projects at Miami.
As part of a settlement reached, sources stated that the two contractors agreed to pay several workers back pay and penalties, in the amount of $50,000. Further, under the terms of the deal, Sigma Capital cannot bid or work on an OH public improvement project for two years. Spokespersons for the union said that the union was monitoring other construction projects including Vandercar's Corridor 75 Industrial Park Project in Monroe and the upcoming renovation of the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.
