Superintendent Resigns
Argyle, TX: (May-21-08) Jason Ceyanes, former superintendent of the Argyle School District, and the district have been locked in a legal battle over a dispute that stemmed from his handling of dress code and possible "dirty dancing" issues at the high school's homecoming dance. School records show that in early February 2008, Ceyanes opted to discuss his six-month evaluation in executive closed session at the same meeting when school board members issued him a written reprimand. The issues in question were over some contention over a delay in opening a foreign language center in the high school. Following the dispute, Ceyanes expressed his desire to resign from his post. A later investigation showed that there was no real cause to terminate Ceyanes.
As part of a settlement reached in the case, the district agreed to pay Ceyanes his salary and benefits through May 2008, and a lump sum of $60,000. Further, the settlement agreement stipulated that Ceyanes be reinstated to his former position till his term ends in May 2008. [DENTON RECORD-CHRONICLE: ARGYLE SUPERINTENDENT RESIGNS]
