NOS Communications settles deceptive marketing class action lawsuit
This is a settlement for the Media/Telecom lawsuit.
A settlement that will pay hundreds of dollars in refunds to long distance phone customers, has been approved. NOS Communications was charged with engaging in deceptive marketing practices.
Although they promised lower rates than competing carriers, NOS used a complicated billing system called "total call units" rather than "cents per minute". This system was not revealed to customers until after they had signed a contract, and actually resulted in costs that were more than double an equivalent per-minute rate plan.
