Skybus Airlines Settles with Former Employees
This is a settlement for the Employment lawsuit.
Former Skybus employees who saw a settlement struck last year for nearly $1 million will finally be seeing some cash. The now-defunct airline was sued in April 2008 alleging it violated federal employment law when it abruptly cut its work force upon filing for bankruptcy protection April 7.
The $925,000 settlement, approved in US Bankruptcy Court in Delaware, will be split so that $2,500 will go to each of the 2 workers who led the 342-person class. Just over $300,000 will go to the lawyers for the plaintiffs. The remaining funds, more than $613,000, will be split with employees, which will total about $1,800 a person.
