Employment Discrimination Lawsuit Settled for $35,000
Houston, TX: A woman who alleged she was discriminated against by her employer because she has multiple sclerosis (MS) and other disabilities has been awarded $35,000 in settlement of her lawsuit.
Jill Roberts complained to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in 2009, stating that her employer, Mannatech Inc, had turned her down for a job assignment because of her MS and neurogenic bladder syndrome. In her suit, Roberts alleged that she was also denied the reasonable accommodation of as-needed restroom breaks, and as a result was denied the assignment at the company's call center in Copell. The EEOC subsequently sued Mannatech, alleging violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
