$3.9M SpaceX Unpaid Overtime Class Action Settlement Finalized
This is a settlement for the Employment lawsuit.
Santa Clara, CA: A $3.9 million settlement has received final approval in an California unpaid overtime law class action lawsuit pending against Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX).
The suit alleged that SpaceX failed to adequately compensate its non-exempt employees for normal and overtime work and didn’t adequately provide required meal and rest breaks, in violation of California labor law.
According to court documents, there are approximately 3,800 class members who will share in the settlement. The settlement effectively ends three separate suits brought against SpaceX, all making similar allegations. The three suits were deemed related by Judge Berle in April, and on August 1, all three sets of plaintiffs joined in asking the court to approve the settlement.
The cases are Joseph A. Smith v. Space Exploration Technologies Corp., Stan Saporito v. Space Exploration Technologies Corp. and Sebring Whitaker v. Space Exploration Technologies Corp. case numbers BC554258, BC598297 and BC578922 respectively, in the Superior Court of the State of California, County of Los Angeles.
