$5.4M Settlement Reached in California Labor Law Class Action
This is a settlement for the Employment lawsuit.
San Francisco, CA: A $5.6 million settlement deal has been granted preliminary approval potentially ending a California labor law class action lawsuit alleging the staffing company Staffmark, failed to compensate its logistics workers for meal periods and overtime and failed to pay minimum wages.
The lawsuit was filed by worker Earl Fronda against Staffmark and freight company CEVA Logistics US in California state court in 2015. Fronda later added CBS Personnel Services LLC, as a defendant which is affiliated with Staffmark.
If the deal receives final approval, it will address claims by some 4,400 class members and would pay them based on the number of weeks they worked for Staffmark and CBS at CEVA locations in California. Fronda would receive a $10,000 incentive award as class representative.
The case is Earl Fronda v. Staffmark Holdings Inc. et al., case number 3:15-cv-02315, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
